Makeup Geek is a company that has blown up for the past two years and continues to grow. It’s highly glorified within the beauty community because the products are so affordable, and the quality of its products will blow your socks off. I’ve gathered up a list of my must-have Makeup Geek eyeshadows and provided swatches.
I was first intrigued and introduced to Makeup Geek by the fabulous Jaclyn Hill. She kept raving about the eyeshadows and how they compared to Mac eyeshadows, but were more affordable to those who couldn’t afford highend makeup or like cheaper alternatives. It’s been two years that I’ve been using these eyeshadows, and they haven’t disappointed me yet.
I find that Makeup Geek eyeshadows are highly pigmented, non-powdery, blendable, provide buildability and apply evenly. The eyeshadows are cruelty-free, talc and paraben free. You can easily place the pans into empty palettes such as Z Palettes and Mac palettes; you can customize each palette to your liking. 🙂
If you’re interested in buying some Makeup Geek eyeshadows, I recommend the following shades:
- Creme Brulee- A medium sand color with a soft matte finish
- Peach Smoothie- A light peach beige with a soft matte finish
- Shimma Shimma- Metallic Champagne
- Corrupt- Intense black matte with subtle sparkle
- Bitten- Matte deep maroon red
- Preppy-Matte khaki brown
- Grandstand- Medium rose gold with slight taupe undertones & foiled finish
- In the Spotlight- Soft pink with coral undertones & foiled finish
- Homecoming- Medium brown with gold shimmer
Swatches (Left to Right): Cocoa Bear, Creme Brulee, Peach Smoothie, Shimma Shimma, Corrupt, Bitten, Preppy, Grandstand, In the Spotlight & Homecoming
As you can tell, the eyeshadows I recommend are neutral shades. What’s new? Right? I find that these shades are perfect for the everday girl. You can easily create a school or office eye look, romantic date night eye look and even a dramatic eye look. Neutrals are the new black. They will always match every outfit in your wardrobe.
The eyeshadows pans are priced at $5.99 each (1.8g / 0.064 oz), and the foiled eyeshadows are priced at $9.99. Whereas, Mac eyeshadows pans are priced at $9.99 (1.5 g / 0.05 oz) and $16.00 in the compact container. Makeup Geek provides more product for half the price and you can’t beat that. Also, its shipping fees are dirt cheap; I’ve never paid more than $3.99 on my purchases.
Don’t get me wrong Mac eye shadows are great, but I always find myself reaching for my Makeup Geek eyeshadows a lot more, mainly due to their uniqueness in shades.
You won’t be disappointed with these shades!
